What are the differences between YTD and monthly or annual totals?
Year to date (YTD), which represents the values at the beginning of the year up to the current date, as opposed to monthly totals, which represent the values at the beginning of the month up to the current date, or annual totals, which show the full year of data. YTD provides a real-time perspective of the performance, be it in terms of income, expenses, or business performance. This is particularly helpful in keeping track of trends, making budget adjustments, and assessing goals prior to the year ending, instead of waiting to have an annual report.
